Returns

This is a workshop where you can hand-forge and craft pure silver at the studio of the 12th and 13th generation silversmiths, who continue a lineage of silversmithing dating back to 1611.

Even first-timers, guided by a craftsman, can touch silver with their own hands and take their finished piece home the same day.

The Time Spent Crafting Silver at Gindendo

Gindendo's pure silver crafting experience is more than just making a souvenir of your trip.

It's a time when you can guide the creation to completion with your own hands, as a craftsman guides you through the process: striking the silver with a hammer to change its expression, shaping it with your hands, and polishing it to reveal its inner light.

The hammer marks, the contours shaped by hand, the chosen form, the polished gleam – everything will retain the memory of the time you spent that day and the touch of your own hands.

The finished piece will not only serve as a memory of your visit to Tokyo but also mark your own milestones, the time spent with loved ones, and your feelings for someone special.

Pure silver is a material that, through use, touch, and the passage of time, develops a unique character that belongs solely to its owner.

Day of the Experience

Please arrive at the studio at your reserved time.

First, we will confirm the item and shape you wish to create. After sharing the image of the finished product, we will begin the silver crafting process.

You will hammer, shape, add textures if desired, and finally polish your piece. A craftsman will guide you through each step, so even first-timers can participate with confidence.

Finished pieces are generally taken home from the studio on the same day.

Care Instructions

Pure silver deepens in character with use. Its color may change due to components in the air or the environment it is used in. You can restore silver's original luster by polishing it with a soft cloth.

If it comes into contact with water, wipe off the moisture with a soft cloth. Please avoid using abrasive sponges or strong chemicals. In environments with high levels of hot spring components or sulfur, significant color changes may occur. Applying strong force may alter its shape.
